Memory walk at Clumber Park biggest in the history of Alzheimer's Society

Alzheimer ,lewy body dementia ,lewy body disease

More than 5,000 walked in the sunshine at Clumber Park to raise vital funds for Alzheimer's Society.
The walk on Staurday was the first at the park for the charity and attracted numbers far exceeding the organiser's expectations - making it one of the biggest in the history of Alzheimer's Society's Memory Walks.
The starting ribbon was cut by Jo Watts from Sutton-in-Ashfield who was walking for her husband's mother who has dementia.
She said: "It's inspiring to see so many people out here. Dementia is such a difficult thing to deal with - my mother-in-law has lost her personality, she's not the same woman she used to be and if we can find a way of helping anyone with dementia, it's worth every bit of pain we might suffer today.
"My husband is a heart transplant patient and I'm a kidney and pancreas transplant patient. No two days are the same for myself and I didn't know if I was going to make today until I got up this morning but I'm glad to do it. I'll pay for it tomorrow and I'll be in a heck of a lot pain but I'm here and I want to do it."
